do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Most advertisements make the products seems much better than what they really are.

Do you agree that products would be seemed to be better by advertising? In my opinion, I do support that advertisement is a good means to popularize the products in current activities of marketing economy. However, product is dispensable to advertisement, which just functions as making up production and enabling people known. The reason why some products are seemed to be better than what they really are, is that customers are possibly misled by the advertisement. Here my arguments go:

First, advertisement plays an important role in product sale. Although thousands of products are made every day, it is very difficult for us to determine whether our desired products exist in the market. Commonly, we may turn to asking our friends around us or reading sale news from a variety of media, like TV, internet, and newspapers. The information from those medias is called as advertisement. Therefore, advertisement is a bridge that connects customer and producers together. We know where our desired products are. Meanwhile, according to comparison of advertisement information from different companies, it also helps us choose the production with the best quality and the best price.

Second, advertisement is just advertisement and not product itself. Whatever the advertisement performs, advertisement never generates any influence on product. What advertisement does are to present customer more details about the product, including nutrition fact, ingredient, function, price, and service. When it comes to a same product from different companies, the information on those advertisements may vary in some aspects. Actually, product quality can not be changed by the advertisement. This is because product quality is determined by its ingredient, making procedure, and other producing factors.

Third, customers are prone to be misled by some advertisements. In part of customer’s eyes, the product is seemed to be better than what they really are. In order to get more profit, producer would carry out some strategy on advertisement and try to make up their products. For example, they would exaggerate product function and production price and weak product defects. In that way, customers tend to be attracted by the product function or price and determine to take the product. Obviously, customers have wrong feeling that the product is much better.

In conclusion, the product quality is only determined by its producing factors and not by the advertisement. Any advertisement just functions as introducing product and making people known. It can not improve product quality. People who consider the product is much better are probably misled by its advertisement.
